Soft floral nursery mural!
Happy colors and soft florals couldn’t be a more sweet combo for a new baby to come home to, IMO! HONESTLY, 100% everytime someone asks, texts or inquires about a mural it makes me so SO SO dang happy that someone is trusting me to make a room or wall more colorful for their loved one – like I don’t take the fact that this mural has the potential to be the backdrop to late nights and bottle feedings and toddler toy sessions and sweet dreaming and memories made for a family! Like, how incredible, right?! 🙂
And this soft floral mural for a little baby that is about to arrive is no different, what a huge and complete honor to paint some soft floral to welcome her home this April!
This technique was actually SO SO awesome and easy – I essentially wanted to make the florals a bit “softer” so I only dipped the brush into the paint a little bit and then kind of dry brushed the florals onto the wall without tons of paint. It gave this sketchy, sort of watercolored effect that I REALLY liked for a nursery wall! 🙂 (or honestly any wall for that matter)! 🙂
I just layered colors on top of one another until all of the florals “felt” done 🙂
The Behr paint colors I used for this mural were:
- Beauty Queen mixed with Spiced Potpourri (I bought Beauty queen first and it was too purply-bright so I mixed it to tone it down a bit and give it a softer, but still vibrant color)
- I Pink I can
- Love at First Sight
- Candied Yams (one of my FAVE colors)
- Sweet Curry (another FAVE)
- Rise and Shine
- Spinach Dip
- I added a lighter green color by mixing some Spinach Dip + Rise and Shine together
- Wave Top
- Rainwater
- Seedless Grape
- Plush Purple
If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again that when I grow up I SOOOOO want to be a color namer! I mean, what a super duper fun job, eh?! 🙂
I sketched the florals onto the wall with chalk (based on the rough sketch that I did on my ipad to mock up the design). I ALWAYS use chalk to sketch because it’s SO erasable and, especially in this case, I could use colored chalk to lay out which colors went where for easier painting later 🙂
I think it turned out SO SWEET to welcome this babe home soon! 🙂
