All Murals Painting

A colorful rainbow under the stairs secret clubhouse mural! :)

Mural, home mural, rainbow mural DIY, mural DIY, colorful DIY mural, how to paint a mural, mural how to, murals in homes

We've had a space under our stairs that has previously been filled with boxes and papers and random stuff (that truthfully never REALLLLLLY needed to be stored and kept.....ya know, the boxes that get moved from house to house to house without anyone ever opening them)! So when our basement flooded this past summer, it gave us an excuse to pitch + toss out these soggy boxes full of things that we didn't need any longer. Zeke INSTANTLY asked if we could turn this space into an indoor clubhouse ... continue reading...

All Murals Painting

Our curvy bathroom mural + using all the paint during social isolation!

Welp! It seems like the only thing these days that keeps my head on straight, is creativity. I've been crafting A TONNNN, but I also decided to break open some paints and tackle a few household painting projects that have been on my brain; after all I have quite a bit of hours on my hands (don't we all?!?) :) I have been eyeing up our downstairs bathroom for some time. It's a big space that has never been painted since we moved in (ahem....7 years ago)....so this seemed like the obvious ... continue reading...

How to paint a mermaid scale mural wall (to hopefully make a 4 year old’s dreams come true)! :)

how to make a DIY mermaid scale painting, mermaid scale mural, mermaid kids room, kids room mural

I'm on this quest to paint a mural every month (or so...depending on the scale of course) and so far I've completed a colorful wall in our stairway (YAY) and the backdrop to a middle school musical. ANNND this month I just completed a stencil, mermaid inspired wall in my nieces room! It was simple, easy and, I hope, bring loads of JOY to my 4 year old niece (she hasn't seem it yet, they were on vacay when this got painted this week)! ... continue reading...

All Life Murals Painting

Stairway wall mural + my creative challenge for 2020

If you haven’t been following along on my instastories, then you maybe have no idea of what 2020 could potentially look like for me! At the start of January, I did a wrap up of my 2019 costume challenge (more HERE) and was asked if I was going to continue with it. I hemmed and hawed and thought on it for a few days. But after realizing that I had already completed the 2019 creative goals of WHY I started the costume challenge, I knew that I didn’t want to continue. BUUUUUT I DID love the idea of ... continue reading...

Our colorful, diagonal grid dining room mural + my urge to paint more!

How to DIY a colorful wall mural, colorful wall mural, joyful wall mural, in home mural, how to make an easy colorful wall mural, dining room mural, house mural, how to paint a wall, diagonal grid on wall

Confession: I have this thing with color! And I have a theory that paint is cheap and ALLLLL walls should be painted. SOOOOOOO! Combine this truth in my life with Ingrid Fetell Lee’s new book “Joyful” and I have the urge to paint EVERYTHING. Like ALL THE THINGS in our house. I am arguing that this can’t possibly be a bad thing! I got the idea to paint the little wall in our dining room awhile back. It’s a small space that isn’t seen unless you are in the kitchen or dining room, so it felt ... continue reading...

Adding color and lots of little personalities and Adding color and lots of little personalities and faces to our weekend. Because love wins and death is conquered….so yes, this is for sure how we celebrate🎉
Also, every time I cracked an egg this weekend, I squealed in the sound or noise that I thought the personality of the egg would sound 😂😂😂 obvi.
I would PICKle you as my Valentine over and over i I would PICKle you as my Valentine over and over if I could! 😂
Also, yes, this is clearly a @claussenpicklesofficial because duh, they are the best! ❤️

The alternate caption could also be “yup…..it’s a Valentine pickle. Because my kids are obsessed with vinegar soaked veggies. Just swipe for the Halloween pickle proof 🥒 “
For the record, I got approximately zero adulting For the record, I got approximately zero adulting things done while constructing this cardboard @encantomovie Casita of my daughters dreams. Except of course inserting many phrases in place of the “we don’t talk about Bruno” song…..ya know, “we don’t talk about dishes no no nooooo. We don’t talk about laundryyyyyy.” 🏠 🎨 💛
Also, the minute the hot glue was dry, Esther picked up the Casita, hugged it and ran it to the living room where she played most of the afternoon. A moment of Mom win to warm my heart 😭❤️

If I’ve said it once and I’ll say it 3 squllio If I’ve said it once and I’ll say it 3 squllion more times: I LOVE PAINNNTTTTT! Here’s the thing……paint is always, 100% paint-overable. If you paint something, step back, live with it for while but just doesn’t feel right…..simply paint over it. Like really that simple.
I’ve done this a handful of times in our own home….bathrooms, bedrooms, hallways (like so many times in the hallways 😂)!
Painting to me is a slight reflection of life: nothing is perfect, and even when mistakes or missteps feel overwhelming they are always worth fixing and usually fixable annnnnd it’s amazing how much a small moment can bring big joy…..or in this case a big moment on a biiigggg wall 🎉🎨
