How to make a felt Christmas bulb garland (or ornaments)

JINGGGLEEEE BELLLLLLLLLSSS! 
Are your halls decked and your tree adorned yet? Because our house is in FULL SWING Christmas mode, and I. LOVE. IT! We are a colorful and fun kind of Christmas decor family so that means the more color and texture and whimsy, the better!

Today I am sharing the pattern for how to make these ADORABLLLLLLE felt Christmas bulbs! You can turn them into a garland or individual ornaments, both are cute and whimsical and colorful and so so so cute!

Trust me, you will *FOR SURE* want to make these in EVERY shape and color and size and hang them from every corner, tree branch and mantle this holiday season. I mean……..right?!?!! 

Supplies:

Felt in various colors
White felt for tops
Poly-fil or stuffing
Coordinating thread for sewing
Ribbon, string, thread or twine for stringing

Instructions:

  1. Download the PDF Pattern HERE!
  2. Cut 2 of lightbulb shape from your felt color of choice. Cut 1 rectangle in white felt

3. Starting about 1/4” down below the top, begin stitching the outer edge of 2 ornament shapes together. Backstitch at each end so that the stitches don’t tear out when stuffed.

4. Stuff a small amount of poly-fil into the bulb

5. fold the white rectangle in half and fold over the top rectangle portion of the bulb. Stitch along the bottom-most edge over the bulb and both sides of the white top. 

6. With ribbon, string, thread or twine string individually to make an ornament or string multiple bulbs together to make a garland! 🙂

    These are truly adorabllllllle! Love them! I should make some of these this year. With 2 kittens in the house, many of our breakable ornaments aren’t going to be going anywhere but back to the basement in their boxes for their own protection!

I reallllllly wanted to do something in this space that invited you in and brought your eye inward and around to the fun or shenanigans! If only it wasn’t -30* outside today so I could adventure out dropping off some Galentines goodies for my fave gal pals! 😬 but you bet your bippy I plan to watch me some Leslie Knope and @parksandrec this afternoon! Bottoms up on for Galentine’s Day ladies!
Houston, we have florallllllsssss! 🌿 🌸 and I Houston, we have florallllllsssss! 🌿 🌸 and I’ve had 2 little (more medium sized) helpers during this mural and I can never be reminded enough just how fun it is to teach kids allll the painting how-tos and watch their eyes light up brighter than mine as every color and layer and shape come together to form something beautiful! 🎨💛

I meannnnn, I’d really love to see you make one of these. So bust out that sewing machine (even if it’s dusty and you feel intimated....trust me, I don’t follow many rules when sewing) and tune in today at 2pm CT (and I do believe if you miss it live, you can still watch the recording). ⁣

It isn’t a secret that we, the Steffen fam, are a “glasses family”! Worn allllll dayyyyy, everrrryyy day...all 4 of us! And truth-be-told we’ve been IN LOOOOVEEE with @ZenniOptical since the minute that we’ve tried every other glasses company on the planet! #ad And since we are all just trying to squeeze out as much joy from everyday life as possible, WHY NOT make some heart shaped glasses for Valentine’s day?! EH!? :) Right now, on my blog I am highlighting just how to make these awesome (and easy) “I only have eyes for you” Valentine’s AND sharing our fave red Zenni glasses that fit this theme so gosh darn well! :) (and hint hint….these heart glasses can be turned into classroom Valentine’s SO SUPER easy using the tutorial + SVG file on my blog)!

Sooooo I finished up a colorful mural yesterday an Sooooo I finished up a colorful mural yesterday and today I’m posting new wallpapers and lock screen graphics for #wallpaperwednesday 👍 I say that 2021 is off to a smashing start, eh!? (Even though it is almost February...) 

Snag one of the colorful wallpapers for your digital devices in my stories because, heck, why not encourage a smile when you glance at your phone next time.
One of my most favorite things about painting is t One of my most favorite things about painting is that it 9284% transforms any space! Like, this very usual under the stairs spot in our house is fastly becoming a happy, play space for our kids. I kinda wish I could paint rainbow stripes in my closet or bathroom now too!! 🎨
And yes, I diiidddd use our cross country skis to make these straight edge lines. Gotta use what you got, eh!? ❤️😂 🎨
